Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a staple of a story that we all know (in some iteration or another.) Again, much like a good portion of my design aspirations, I wanted to give patrons the expectations they had about the show but in a way that had never been seen. As a nod to the original movie, I set it in a modern day that drew very heavy style inspirations from the 1950s. I wanted the children characters to be the world of vibrant colors, that matched their personalities while making the world of Willy Wonka and his employees (the Oompa Loompas) a strictly black, white, and purple color palette. To create a very visible different world, considering that Wonka has shut the factory off from the rest of the world for years, while still keeping it fun and vibrant as well.
