In this original adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, much like all of the Player shows, the show demanded a design that was a base costume that could read as a vast array of different characters both young and old. Alice was the only character that did not change during the duration of the show so I was able to drape and construct a dress that was based on a period Victorian dress that I found during my initial research phase. (Click on technology button to see the reference photo) This photo was the basis for the rest of the design to build off of. Susanne Boulle wanted to approach this production in the vein of a "steampunk" based reality for wonderland. Which then led me to set the world of Alice's reality in a hard Victorian era. The steampunk aspect (despite not being my favorite thing due to my love for real victorian clothing) was very helpful for me to craft a found-object world on a $1,000 budget.
