My concept for this production of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was driven by the director's original vision. He wanted the world of the humans to be set in a 1940's England and the world of Narnia to be set in a non-descript world based in Nordic culture.
I did a lot of research of nordic inspired face painting, armor and dress. Then from those images I crafted the designs. The show was double cast, being a children's series show for Charleston Stage's season, and had to be able to dress 40 children (Aslan being the only character that didnt change.)
Pictured below are the White witch, and Aslan renderings along with the show photos of the realized designs.
Paired with examples of the 4 Pevensie children and the Dwarf sidekick of the White Witch.
