In our first production meeting for this show, I had the idea to set this is the correct time period (despite the fact that they aren't fleeing the 2nd world war in this dramatization.) I wanted the real world of this show to be set in the mid-40s, while the world of Narnia would be a nondescript world of fantasy that is inspired by nods to the corresponding time period outside the wardrobe. I wanted to play with the human silhouette and play with the shapes in order to make people into the animals/creatures they played. Much like every Player's show they needed to be able to change and change quickly. So minimal pieces were required. So I tried to design the show around those requirements as best I could on a $700 budget. I was able to experiment and make the White Witches whole outfit down to her gloves (Which came complete with rhinestones and nails.) The base costumes a.k.a. "Narnia spirits" were designed and made by me using one of the Pattern Magic Books (the one for stretch fabrics) in order to create an a-typical cut of clothing that seemed like it could only exist in a make-believe fantasy world.
