This show was a remount of a production that was done prior to me being hired as the resident designer. I had the option to pull from the previous production's set of costumes, but being my first design for this company, I wanted to completely revamp the entire show. We first learn that the wolves are back in this hilarious retelling of; The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Little Bo Peep, The Boy Who Cried, Wolf, with a few other characters (Virginia Wolf, Hunter, and Snowflake the rebellious black sheep) added into the mix. John Hardy wanted to hit this story with some very fun pops of color and a bit of humor which led to a very fun and easily discoverable palette. The biggest challenge were the three people that played the roles of; Bricks, Sticks, and Straw. I, however, was able to find fun Baseball t-shirts to paint actual bricks sticks and straw on. Virginia Wolf and Wolf were a fun challenge because of the Male wolf being from the woods (having been in hiding since Granny killed his father) and Virginia being from the city, coming out to the wilderness looking to follow this need to find who she is. Snowflake, the very recently converted black sheep, has escaped Bo Peep and cut off all of her hair and dyed the remaining black, in spite of Bo's better wishes.
There was a bit of historical inspiration added into this fun, colorful, and hilarious retelling of characters you may have never seen in this light.
